What’s Real?
Kevin delivered a message focused on spiritual transformation and change within the church, using three key scriptures to illustrate the need for moving beyond comfortable routines into new ways of faith. He discussed Isaiah 43’s message about God creating new paths in wilderness and wastelands, Matthew 9’s parable about new wine requiring new wineskins rather than old ones, and Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for unity among believers. Kevin expressed concerns and excitement about the challenges facing the church which will require the church to let go of old ways of doing things and embrace new approaches, warning that this would involve discomfort and the need to surrender control. He expressed gratitude for the leadership of the church and everyone who has given their time organizing and sorting for the upcoming daycare sale. He specifically called for the congregation to pray for the leadership of the church who would face these challenges first, emphasizing the importance of moving from bounded sets defined by physical locations or finances to a centered set focused on God’s will and purpose. Following worship, a congregation meeting was held to provide updates on church finances, upcoming daycare liquidation sale, and future plans for the north wing.
