This Sunday, we come to Jesus’ final teaching in the second section of the Sermon on the Mount. The six teachings in this section are about Jesus coming to fulfill the law, to reveal God’s intended meaning for the law, and to challenge us to a surpassing righteousness.

Each teaching starts with Jesus using a familiar formula. “You have heard it that it was said…but I tell you.” In this week’s teaching Jesus get at the heart of God’s command to love our neighbor. In the first five teachings in this section, Jesus summarizes specific words from the Old Testament.
