An Alien in a Foreign Land
This Sunday, we continue our summer worship series, “Moses: The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Today, we find right where we left him last week sitting beside a well in Midian.
Over the next 40 years, Moses lives a very non-public life in Midian. He works for his father-in-law, Reuel (Jethro), marries Zipporah on the Reuel’s daughters, and has a family.
Midian is much different from Egypt. In Midian, Moses can just be. Over the weeks, months, and years in Midian, Moses is able to name his greatest pain. He is an alien in a foreign land.
This isn’t a simple acknowledgement that he isn’t a Midianite. This is a powerful acknowledgement that he doesn’t know who he is.
In this message, we will see how God has been working in Moses’ life to bring him to this point. Then we will hold up the lessons of the story like a mirror into our souls and ask, “Do we know who we are?”
